Who Can File ITR - 1?


The person who is a resident in India can file ITR 1.
He or she should be an individual.
His or her income should be up to Rs.50 lakh.
His or her income from salary or pension.
The individual has only one house property
His or her income from other sources for example interest from saving bank account.

Now we are going to show you how to file ITR 1 procedure.

Step-1: 
Step-2:
  • Now you can see the download section on the right side and click on the IT Return Preparation Software. 
  • Now choose the Assessment year 2019-20.
  • You can download this software in two different formats Microsoft excel and java. I refer to choose Microsoft excel. 
Step-3:
  • Now extract the file and open excel file ITR1_2019_PR3. and then click on the enable editing and thereafter a click on enable content and OK.
  • You can see the green area in excel which is a fillable cell. Now fill the general information like Name, Address, Pancard No. , Aadhar No. , Mobile No., etc. Select Filed u/s 139(1)- on or before the due date. 
Step-4:
  • Under Gross salary, a. Salary as per section 17(1) put your salary which you earn in the whole year.
  • Now in the income from other sources select the interest from a savings account and put the total interest earned in FY-18-19. (See the passbook or bank statement)  
  • Deduction under section 80C: If you have an investment like LIC, Bank deposit, and loan repayment etc.then put all payments made in the FY-18-19.  note: maximum Rs.150000 is allowable as a deduction.
  • Deduction under section 80TTA: if you have Income from other sources like  interest from saving bank account then this income is deductible up to Rs.10000)
  • Now the total income is showing.
  • In the last click validate if the sheet is OK then click Next. 
Step-5: 
  •  If your TDS/TCS is deducted then fill TDS details.
Step-6: 
  • Fill the bank details, Son/daughter of (Father name), and capacity (Self) and Place( where you from)
Step-7: 
  • Click validate and calculate tax
  • If any error showing then solved it.
  • After clicking Calculate tax the Amount payable is zero if you have income up to Rs.250000, and if not amount payable is the amount which you have to pay tax first and then file the return.
  • After clicking calculate tax Click the button generate XML >OK >OK> save XML(Summery)>Ok. The XML file is saved where this excel sheet was stored.
Step-8: 
  • Now click on the login button. (If you don't have an account, then click on the register your self)
Step-9: 
  • Enter User ID, Password, and Captcha code for Log in.
Step-10: 
  • Click on Filing on the income tax return.
Step-11
  • Select the Assessment year 2019-20 > ITR 1 > Original / revised return > Upload XML > Verification Aadhar OTP > continue > Tick mark on i agree and continue.
  • Attach the XML file which you have generated from excel file and clock on the submit button
Step-12:  
  • After upload, the XML file click on e-verification and verify your return with aadhar otp and if you don't get aadhar otp you have to send this return acknowledgment to Bangalore CTC.
